Every Engineer begins as a question before becoming a solution. Our search for On-the-Job Trainees (OJT) was guided by that very principle looking beyond credentials to uncover potential shaped by curiosity, struggle, and innovation.

The event, held on April 22, 2026, was organized at the College of Engineering of Bulacan State University, with the help and guidance of the Mechatronics Engineering Department. It began with the arrival of students and the Pinoleakpes Representatives at the venue. Engineering students from various programs and departments gradually filled the room, each carrying their resumes along with a mix of nervousness and determination. Mr. Jeremia Joseph Salamat, the Human Resources Representative of Pinoleakpes, led the introduction of the company, highlighting its goals, work culture, and expectations for interns. He was assisted by Mr. Hector Castro, who elaborated on the technical aspects and supported the presentation. Together, they provided students with a clearer understanding of what Pinoleakpes stands for and what it seeks in future trainees.

Following the orientation, the interview process officially began. Twenty-five engineering students were evaluated individually. Each student was given the opportunity to speak directly with the Human Resources representatives, where they were assessed not only on their communication skills and technical knowledge but also on their personal experiences and perspectives.
As the interviews progressed, Mr. Salamat was deeply moved by the stories shared by the students. Some spoke about the financial challenges they had overcome just to continue their studies, while others shared experiences of perseverance—balancing academics with family responsibilities and personal struggles.
These stories gave the interview process a deeper meaning, transforming it from a simple assessment into a moment of genuine human connection. The panel saw not only future engineers but individuals shaped by resilience, hard work, and hope for a better future.
After all interviews were completed, the selected OJT candidates were announced. From the pool of 25 applicants, only a few were chosen based on their technical qualifications and overall potential. The selected students expressed both gratitude and relief, knowing that their efforts and personal journeys had been recognized.

What we discovered was simple yet powerful: every student carries a journey defined by resilience.
